Visit Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, Stirling & Forth Valley’s only brewery and visitor centre and learn about the range of regional craft ales and beers. From refreshing lagers to rich ales, enjoy distinctive flavours and look out for seasonal and speciality drinks. You can also visit the distilleries across the region to uncover the secrets of whisky production.

Breweries

The region enjoys a long and proud history of brewing and was once home to no fewer than 32 breweries. Although only a handful remains today, they produce some of the most recognisable and thirst-quenching real and craft ales around, including seasonal and speciality drinks.

Learn the secrets of brewing the perfect pint by becoming a brewer for the day at the Allanwater Brewhouse in picturesque Bridge of Allan and enjoy a tour of the microbrewery and visitor centre.

Lovers of ale can also look out for the award-winning ales from the Harviestoun Brewery in Alva. Or why not sample the famous Leann Fraoch, or ‘heather ale’, from the William Brothers Brewing Company based in Alloa?  It’s thought heather ale was first enjoyed as far back as 2000 BC and features the distinctive flavours of elderberries, gooseberries, seaweed and even shoots of Scots pine. You can also quench your thirst with the ales from the Loch Lomond Brewery in Alexandria, which brewed its first beer in 2011.

Not only that, but if you stop off at the Scottish Real Ale Shop at the Lade Inn in Callander, you'll get to choose from over 130 different beers! Don't miss the annual Trossachs Beer Festival each summer which celebrates ales from across the region.

Whisky

Discover what’s involved in making whisky by taking a behind the scenes tour one of several distilleries in the region, including Deanston and Glengoyne. Find out more about whisky production in Loch Lomond, The Trossachs & The Forth Valley.
