The Borders is home to one of the oldest working brewery in Britain. Discover the secrets of traditional brewing at the Traquair House Brewery in Innerleithen which is situated in the building’s eighteenth wing and sample the popular Traquair House Ales.
The popularity of brewing in the Scottish Borders has grown in recent years which has led to the establishment of a number of microbreweries each producing their own unique craft ales available across the region. Look out for the beers of Kelso’s Tempest Brewery and the Old Jock and Merlin’s ales from the Broughton Brewery.There is also the Scottish Borders Brewery on the Chester Estate which produces a refreshing range of lagers and rich ales.
