Baxter Park was designed by one of the great innovators of the 19th century, Sir Joseph Paxton, and gifted to the city by the Baxter family in 1863. Look out for the pavillion, designed by Paxton's son-in-law, George Henry Stokes, which has been restored and sits amongst 38 acres of mature parkland and sweeping lawns.
