From the quirky Loony Dook on 1 January to the fantastic fireworks of Hogmanay, Scotland offers a year-round array of wonderful events, festivals and exhibitions. 2014 is set to be a year like no other, with the XX Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and hundreds of exciting Year of Homecoming events promising brilliant moments and unforgettable experiences all over the country.

February - LGBT History Month

February is LGBT History Month, when Scotland celebrates the past, present and future of its LGBT+ communities with a range of events and activities throughout the country. The programme has previously included art exhibitions, film screenings, ceilidhs, 5k runs, bowling competitions and much more. June - Pride Scotia, Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s gay pride festivities, Pride Scotia, take place every June and include a fantastic mix of parties, performances and of course, the famous parade.

The annual pride march sees people of all ages and from all walks of life march through the capital in the name of equality, stopping for speeches from some of Scotland’s foremost campaigners before tucking into a BBQ, live music and entertainment. Other events have previously included film screenings, theatre, ceilidhs and more - keep an eye on the website for details of what's on next year.

June to August - Edinburgh Festivals

Edinburgh’s summer festivals offer back-to-back entertainment from June to August, with a fantastic range of art, music, cinema, theatre and much more. With hundreds of fantastic events on offer, the exciting programmes always feature a wide range of shows of LGBT interest. July - Pride Glasgow

Glasgow's Pride celebrations usually take place in July and are famed for their great events and buzzing atmosphere, with a great line-up of performances and parties in addition to exhibitions and cultural events. Visit the Pride Glasgow website for more information.

October to November - Glasgay! Festival

First held in 1993, Glasgay! has become the UK's largest LGBT multi-arts festival, boasting a month-long programme of excellent drama, dance, film, visual arts, parties and much more. The festival takes place in October and November each year, attracting a wide range of talented performers from Scotland and beyond.
