Under the scheme, properties are carefully assessed by VisitScotland Quality Advisors using strict criteria and awarded one or more of the following gradings:

Category 1: wheelchair access without assistance
Category 2: wheelchair access with assistance
Category 3: access for those with mobility impairment
Where an establishment holds an award, at least one bedroom in a hotel or guest, B&B or hostel is accessible to the level given. Where a visitor attraction has identifiably different component parts (for example, the attraction itself, shop, café, toilets, etc.), awards are made to highlight the different access levels for each part.
Please note: we recommend that you check with the accommodation provider before booking lest any changes have been made since the last inspection by VisitScotland.
