Towns & Villages

Morar is a small village on the west coast of Scotland boasting a beautiful white sand beach.

There is a string of stunning white sand beaches with turquoise water backed by flowery machair. Look out for the barren granite hills and moorland rising up behind the wonderful seaward views of Eigg and Rum which stretches for 8 miles north of Arisaig and is known as the ‘Silver Sands of Morar’. The beach featured predominantly in the film Local Hero as well as in Breaking the Waves.

Loch Morar, rumoured to be the home of a monster called Morag, a lesser-known relative of Nessie. It is located nearby running east of Morar village into the heart of a huge wilderness area and is the deepest freshwater body in the British Isles. Hemmed in by heather-decked mountains, it featured in the movie Rob Roy.
