Whether its relaxing treks across rolling hills and lush valleys or flying down rugged terrain on a mountain bike, the wonderfully varied of landscape of the Scottish Borders lends itself to a dizzying array of outdoor activities.

Put on your boots and explore the region along the many waymarked paths. With around 1,500 miles of walking routes in this corner of Scotland alone, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Meanwhile the region’s quiet country roads and waymarked routes are also ideal for those wanting to explore the picturesque countryside on two wheels.

For more of a challenge, visit Go Ape! For a treetop adventure or head to the pristine coastal waters and tranquil lochs for a watersports adventure.

If you prefer to stay dry then get your pulse racing at to one of the excellent routes at the 7stanes mountain biking centres in Glentress & Innerleithen, and Newcastleton. Both experienced bikers and newcomers will find exhilarating trails of all grades that twist and turn through dense forests and steep hillsides.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing day then cast your line into the extraordinary waters of the magnificent River Tweed. Widely regarded as one of the world’s best salmon rivers it also has an excellent run of sea trout both in the summer and in autumn.
