Driving around in a classic car is a great way to explore the Scottish Borders. Visit charming towns and villages for a warm welcome, drive past stunning scenery and why not head along to the Selkirk Vintage Rally, held every September?

The Selkirk Vintage Rally has been held every year since 1993 and is one of Scotland’s biggest vintage car rallys. Unfortunately, this year's event which was due to take place on 16 September has been cancelled.

The Borders Vintage Automobile Club will be holding the 40th Historic Motoring Extravaganza on 10 June at Thirlestane Castle. The special attractions this year will be celebrating 50 years of MGB's Spitfires and Lotus Elans, alongside the fantastic veteran, vintage and classic cars. There will also be historic motorcycles, military and commerical vehicles, tractors and other vehicles.

Why not take your classic car through the Borders, once home to the Borders Reivers and turbulent battles for territory in centuries gone by, enjoy fabulous views on a route alongside the famous River Tweed or how about a breath of sea air whilst you drive along the fabulous coastline of the region?

Once you've chosen a route, just fasten your seatbelt, roll down the windows, turn on the engine and drive to your heart's content to view some of the most spectacular scenery in the Scottish Borders.

After exploring the Scottish Borders, you can also head over to Moffat, just outside of the region and in Dumfries & Galloway. This town will host the 15th Moffat Car Rally on 23 - 24 June, where you can enjoy entertainment, live music and children’s attractions alongside 900 stunning classic cars from across Scotland, the UK and even Europe.
