Golf - The Ayrshire Experience
Golf has been played in Scotland for over 500 years. Records show that Golf, or “Gowf” as it was known then, started in the 15th Century so it will come as no surprise that Scotland is acknowledged as the ‘Home of Golf’.
Ayrshire may be best known as the birthplace of the great Scottish Bard, Robert Burns but it is also known as the birthplace of the Open Championship which was first played for in 1860 over the Prestwick Golf course. It is also home to two more famous Open Championship venues in Royal Troon and Turnberry.
In total there are around 50 courses throughout the county ranging from Open Championship venues to the more humble 'Honesty Box' pay and play courses including links, parkland, heathland and moorland courses with some course located on the islands of Cumbrae and Arran.
The Itinerary set out below is a sample of what can be created to suit your golfing talents and ambitions. Throughout this tour you will be accommodated at the 5 star Trump Turnberry Hotel:
Day 1 - Turnberry Arran course.
Day 2 - Turnberry Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce courses.
Day 3 - The Prestwick Golf Club.
Day 4 - The Royal Troon and Troon Portland courses.
Day 5 - The Dundonald Links course.
Day 6 - The Western Gailes course.
Day 7 - Turnberry Golf Academy and Ailsa or King Robert the Bruce course.
