It lies on the slow road from Edinburgh as it winds its way along the picturesque East Lothian coast. In prime golf country, Aberlady boasts the excellent Kispindie links course, while a landscape of fairways and greens stretches east to Gullane and beyond.
The shore here is a nationally important refuge for thousands of geese in the autumn. They are an incredible spectacle as they fly in to roost on the mudflats. Marshes, beach and the rocky coast of the Firth of Forth under a big sky makes for an impressive setting.
