An Ceann Mor

Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park

Visit Scotland's First National Park

Departing from your designated location Settle back and relax as we navigate through some of the most beautiful lochs and hills Scotland has to offer. We make our way to the historic village of Doune. The castle here features in Monty Python, Game of Thrones and Outlander. After Doune castle we drive through the bustling town of Callander which is situated on the River Teith. After a quick photo stop with the local highland cows you can settle back and relax as we navigate through some of the most beautiful lochs and scenery Scotland has to offer.

We will make our way into the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, the first national park to open in Scotland in 2002 with 720 sq. miles of natural beauty, We will pass Loch Venacher and Loch Achray to our first destination of the day at Loch Katrine, set in the center of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs the loch’s name comes from the Gaelic “Cateran” meaning Highland Robber the most famous of whom is Rob Roy McGregor who was born on the Lochs northern shore. Here we will have time to have a cruise on the SS Sir Walter Scott Steamship named after the famous Sir Walter Scott who was so inspired by the Loch’s beauty wrote the Lady of the Lake in 1810, it has also inspired William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge.

After we depart Loch Katrine we will continue into the heart of The Trossachs over the famous Dukes Pass and passing Loch Drunkie to the town of Aberfoyle, this small but important village lies in one of Europe’s most beautiful locations on the southern edge of the Highland Boundary Fault line, after a lunch stop we head to Glengoyne Distillery founded in 1833 at Dumgoyne, Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland Single Malt Whisky which is matured in the lowlands. Located on the Highland Boundary Fault Line the division between the Highlands and Lowlands, Glengoyne’s stills are in the Highlands, while maturing casks of whisky rest across the road in the Lowlands.

After a visit the shop we will make our way to the western shore of Loch Lomond and onto the village of Luss legend has it that it takes its name from an adaptation of the French for the heraldic flower The Iris or Fleur de Lys, here you can wander down to the pier for beautiful views of Loch Lomond or visit the 19th Century parish church to see the Victorian Stained Glass Windows, we will continue west along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond to the Pyramid Viewpoint known as An Ceann Mor where you can climb up to get fantastic views down Loch Lomond and across to Inversnaid we then continue to the Falls of Falloch a 30 foot waterfall also known as Rob Roy’s Bath, it is here where Rob Roy McGregor is said to have come to take a bath.

We next continue north through the village of Crainlarich, the name comes from the Gaelic for “Low Pass” two military roads met here one from Dumbarton which followed Loch Lomond and one from Callander through Glen Dochart. We will follow the route through Glen Dochart to the village of Killin to visit the Falls of Dochart one of the most photographed waterfalls in Scotland. We continue through Glenogle passing Loch Earn on our way back with great memories and full cameras!
