Join wildlife photographer Paul McDougall on an unforgettable long weekend wildlife photography experience to Dumfries and Galloway

This trip is designed to highlight the very best of the Dumfries & Galloway area in south-west Scotland.

This part of Scotland is a real gem, It is often overlooked for the more iconic Scottish wildlife destinations of the highlands and islands. But you won’t be disappointed as the wildlife is rich, unique and plentiful. We work with Alan McFadyen a locally based photographer who has established his world renowned wildlife hides over a period of many years. We’ll be based throughout the trip near to the town of Kirkcudbright where we will have exclusive access to a number of hides situated in a number of locations.

These specialist hides have been designed to allow great images of elusive species like Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Whinchat and Cuckoo and we will also be able to photograph other species too like Sparrowhawk, Kingfisher, Tawny Owl, Red Fox, Dipper, Siskin, Common Redpoll and Common Buzzards. Also visiting the hides are a range of smaller woodland birds like Woodpecker, Nuthatch and Siskin along with all the other common woodland species.

In addition we will have opportunities to observe and photograph Pine marten, Otter, Red squirrels and Badgers.

Each day you will have the opportunity to be in a different hide so you can get a great portfolio from this short trip, or you can focus on one specific species. It is a brilliant opportunity to observe and capture great images of some real iconic species that are otherwise hard to find and photograph.

It is an action packed tour full of wildlife experiences. Every day will include a day and evening hide session. This can be organised in advance or can be decided at the time.

All hides sightings cannot be guaranteed (although success is high). Some species are seasonal and may not be available at the time of booking. You will be advised of possible species when booking.

The tour is flexible and will only be a small group and can be privately booked depending on requirements.

All accommodation, food transport and activities listed above are included in this Dumfries and Galloway Wildlife Photography long weekend.

You will have the opportunity to capture some great images of some rare and elusive wildlife guided throughout by Paul.

Paul has been visiting and guiding in these hides for years and knows the area well and what specific shots are possible in each hide. His experience will help you achieve the images that you want.
