The Highland Explorer Single Day Tour

Join us for a private bespoke guided tour of the North Highlands in a premium 4X4. Taking a maximum of 4 people, each tour provides an unrivalled personal experience & travelling no more than 100 miles per day leaves plenty of time for exploration.

Be reassured, in line with all Government and Public Health safety guidelines, we have completed a full Covid-19 Risk Assessment and been accredited with the UK-wide Tourism Industry Standard and Consumer Mark - We're Good to Go'.

Overview: This one day explorer tour will give you a real flavour of the central North Highlands from the Flow Country to the Strath of Kildonan.

The Flow Country – a vast wilderness pock marked by a thousand Lochans, ringed by distant mountains and home to iconic wildlife. Herds of red deer wander across its plains and the big skies are the perfect vantage point for Golden Eagles to hunt over the moss and pools.

The Strath of Kildonan, ringed by mountains and threaded by rivers, then leads you through the story of the Highland Clearances. A fascinating tale of Victorian greed and grief which shaped not only this region but, through its emigrants, Australia, Canada and the USA too.

It is a landscape that is bereft of people but it was not always so – countless generations of people once lived here. If you know where to look you can still find traces of ancient settlements, some over 4000 years old.

Tours typically start anywhere along the route to suit your needs.

● Coille Na Borgie – Neolithic burial tombs

● Forsinard Nature reserve and viewing tower – ideal place to spot wildlife

● Strath Kildonan – a beautiful river valley and home of the Highland gold rush
