Speyside Golf Trail

© Visit Scotland

The Speyside Golf Trail

Discover the heart of Scotland’s whisky country, where great golf meets world-famous distilleries. This five-day guided golf and whisky experience takes you through the stunning Speyside region — home to some of Scotland’s most picturesque courses.

Each day combines authentic local golf, distillery visits, and the opportunity to explore the people and places that make this region truly special. You’ll be accompanied by your local guide throughout, with professional photography during your rounds, comfortable transport to and from each course, and recommendations for dining along the way.

Day 1 – Spey Valley Golf Course & Cairngorm Brewery

Begin your journey in Aviemore at the spectacular Spey Valley Championship Golf Course, where mountain views frame one of Scotland’s most visually impressive inland layouts. After your round, visit the nearby Cairngorm Brewery for a tour and tasting of their locally brewed ales — a perfect introduction to Speyside hospitality.

Day 2 – Boat of Garten & The Cairn Distillery

Known as “The Boat,” Boat of Garten Golf Club is a true Highland classic designed by James Braid. This course demands precision while rewarding creativity, with sweeping views over the Cairngorms National Park.

After golf, visit The Cairn Distillery, one of Scotland’s newest and most architecturally striking whisky destinations, for a guided tasting and distillery experience.

Day 3 – Grantown-on-Spey & Glenlivet Distillery

Head to Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club, a course that perfectly captures the Highland charm, offering panoramic views of the Cromdale Hills. For a unique twist, experience hickory golf here — playing with traditional clubs for a taste of golfing history.

Later, journey to the Glenlivet Distillery, nestled deep in the glen that gave it its name. Enjoy a premium tasting and learn about one of the world’s best-loved single malts.

Day 4 – Ballindalloch Castle Golf, Whisky Tour and Tasting.

Today’s golf pairs two hidden gems. Start at the beautifully kept Ballindalloch 9-hole course, set within the Ballindalloch Estate and offering a relaxed yet scenic challenge. Followed by a visit to the Ballindalloch Distillery, a small, family-owned distillery known for its handcrafted single malt and intimate tours — a true hidden gem of Speyside.

Day 5 – Spey Bay & Benriach Distillery

Finish your journey at Spey Bay Golf Club, a pure, natural links experience along the Moray Firth. Its rugged fairways and seaside air make it the perfect finale to your Speyside adventure.

After your round, enjoy a tasting at Benriach Distillery, known for its world of flavour and Speyside character. A fitting end to a week of exceptional golf and world-class whisky.
