Within easy reach of
- Lochboisdale and the ferry (easy walking distance)
- Askernish links golf course (10 minute drive),
- Cladh Hallan round houses dating back over 2,000 years (10 minute drive)
- West coast beaches & wildlife (10 minute drive),
- Eriskay island, home of Bonnie Prince Charlie beach and site of the original Whisky Galore adventure, plus the Barra ferry (15 minute drive).
- Excellent fishing in South Uist's lochs. Information on great locations, ghillies, permits, boat-hire & more is available from the South Uist Angling Club and Storas Uibhist.
- All that, plus local hills for walks & hikes (walk from the door!), including Ben Kenneth, the main hill you see from our breakfast room window.
Brae Lea House offers a quiet location with stunning views.
Choose from a family room (1 double, 1 single), 2 double rooms, 1 twin room, or the single room.
Breakfast is included in all rates - if you're leaving on an early ferry or flight, a packed breakfast can be provided to nibble on the way.
Free wifi reaches all our rooms. (This is the Outer Hebrides so streaming 4k movies isn't likely to work well - but for nearly everything else it's more than enough!)
South Uist is a wildlife wonderland. Sparrowhawks, twite, and wrens can be seen in the garden, plus local deer make an appearance at the fence from time to time. Look out for our neighbour's chickens too! Otters, seals and eagles can be easily spotted from the nearby beaches. Just ask for our printed guides on where to go and what to see on South Uist, Eriskay, North Uist and Barra.
I look forward to welcoming you to Brae Lea House!
