Enjoy a relaxing visit of the grounds, exhibitions and Ballroom at Balmoral with our audio tour, which is available in English with Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish translations.
Please note that should there be Covid restrictions in place visitors will be asked to adhere to these.
The audio tour lasts approximately one hour and will guide you around the grounds and gardens. The highlight of the visit is the largest room in the Castle - the Ballroom. Please note that the Ballroom is the only room available to visitors - all the other areas are private residence.
After your tour you can visit our newly refurbished Mews Gift Shop, where you will find a wide range of gifts, both Scottish and Royal. You can also purchase snack refreshments from the Coffee Pod at the Main Gates or the new servery in the Pipers Hall.
We are also pleased to announce that our Balmoral Coffee Shop will offer the following experiences:-
Morning Coffee and Cake Experience – this must be booked in advance and includes your admission ticket together with tea, coffee or hot chocolate accompanied by some delicious cake, which you can enjoy in the relaxed restaurant setting. This will be served daily from 1000 to 1130.
Adult admission, with cake experience - £23.50
Child admission, with cake experience - £14.50
Afternoon Tea Experience – this must be booked in advance and includes your admission ticket together with tea, coffee or hot chocolate served with a selection of sandwiches, scones and cake, which you can enjoy in the relaxed restaurant setting. This will be served daily from 1300 until 1600.
Adult admission with afternoon tea - £37.50
Child admission with afternoon tea - £17.50
The coffee shop will also serve freshly made sandwiches and snacks on a daily basis from 1000 until 1600. Hot food will be served from 1130 until 1500 daily, with the exception of Thursdays. The menu will celebrate a wonderful range of local and Scottish produce, including our world famous venison burger.
We also offer the Balmoral Expedition, which is a wonderful experience for you to enjoy as a social household bubble (maximum of four people).

Children under 5 - free of charge and no ticket required
Booking fee applied to online bookings.
For an additional charge of £10 per person you can upgrade your ticket to last the week - this will allow you to return to the Estate as often as you wish during your stay. This upgrade is available from the Admissions Desk on the day of initial entry - please present your booking confirmation to the staff on duty and they will be able to help you.
The Balmoral Expedition includes a two hour Landrover tour on the Estate. During the day you can also enjoy the Balmoral audio tour, which guides you through the grounds, gardens and exhibitions. You will also have an opportunity to browse our new Mews Shop to purchase a gift to remind you of your visit to Balmoral.

Balmoral is located off the A93 mid way between Ballater and Braemar. Parking available in car parks at Crathie, just a short walk from the admissions desk.
