David Wallace and Iain Loudon, both keen art enthusiasts, made an immediate impact in pretty Borders town of Melrose when they opened The Gallery Melrose at the end of 2016. In prime position in the Market Square, this Gallery has become a focal point for quality art and displays the work of more than 50 artists from the region and further afield, as well as hand-crafted wood, glass, pottery and designer jewellery items.
In a short period of time, the gallery developed tremendously expanding to add a back room showing their vast selection of prints, both framed and unframed and expanding to offer bespoke picture framing. The room is also used from time to time to hold events in support of key festivals in the area that are also worth a visit such as The Melrose Book Festival, the Melrose Rugby 7s, and the Melrose Festival.
Many visitors from surrounding towns and from overseas are drawn to the unique selection of gift items for sale, keen to take home prints, cards, candles, jewellery, handbags, purses, Quaich’s and other items.
Make sure when you are next in the Borders, you are sure to visit the lovely town of Melrose and make time to pop into The Gallery Melrose and have a browse. Dave and Iain will look forward to your visit.
