  • Follow in the footsteps of Legends and Kings as you explore historic Stirling Castle
  • Take in the spectacular scenery of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park
  • An optional whisky-tasting tour at a traditional Whisky-Distillery
  • See Doune Castle, filming location for ‘Monty Python’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Outlander’.
  • View the impressive ‘Kelpies’, Scotland’s largest public art installation

8.15 AM – We depart the historic Royal Mile, Edinburgh and make our way up the Forth Valley towards Stirling. You’ll stop at the spectacular Kelpies – 30 foot high metal equine sculptures, built at the entrance to Forth and Clyde Canals as a tribute to Central Scotland’s industrial past. You’ll see why the Kelpies are fast becoming one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks and the perfect spot for photographs.

10:00am: Stirling Castle is the most important castle in Scottish history, due to it’s important location where the Lowlands meet Highlands. Scottish (…and sometimes English) armies throughout history stopped advancing armies from every direction. Hear tales of the famous battles fought at Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn during the Wars of Independence, as William Wallace then Robert the Bruce led the Scottish army to unlikely victories, inspiration for the movie ‘Braveheart’. There are over 900 years of history within the walls of this castle, one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions, which come alive as you explore its great halls, dungeons and narrows wynds. (Castle Entry Optional)

You’ll have 90 minutes to tour the Castle, or alternatively explore Stirling’s Old Town, before you continue north towards the Highlands.

12:00pm: You’ll then visit the beautiful Lake of Menteith, Scotland’s only Lake, with stunning views of the magnificent ‘Ben Lomond’.

12:30pm: You’ll have lunch in the Highland village of Aberfoyle, before we go over the famous ‘Duke’s Pass‘, stopping for photos of the beautiful views, before we meet our famous herd of ‘Hairy Coos‘ (Highland Cows)! These magnificent yak-like creatures are native to Scotland, and they love to pose for your photographs!

1:45pm: You’ll enjoy a short nature walk through the forest to ‘Little Fawn Falls’, a beautiful little waterfall in the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Troassachs’ National Park.

3:00pm: At Loch Katrine, experience the beautiful scenery which inspired Sir Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. Your tour guide will entertain you with the story of the most famous Highlander of them all, ‘Rob Roy MacGregor‘, who was born and lived near this stunning loch. Go for a short walk along the water’s edge, enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Highlands, and get some beautiful photographs, before we begin to make our way south through the village of Callander.

Afternoon Option 1: 4:00pm You’ll arrive at Deanston Distillery, located on the banks of the beautiful River Teith. Take an optional 45-minute tour of the working distillery. Experience the whisky-making process from beginning to end, and learn why Scotch is such a world-renowned spirit. The tour finishes with a short whisky-tasting. (£8.00 per adult)

Afternoon Option 2: 4:00pm Alternatively, you can visit the nearby Doune Castle, dating from the 14th century, and a filming location for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Game of Thrones and Outlander. You’ll have 45 minutes to tour this castle if you’d prefer this option. (Castle entry £6.00 per adult/£3.60 per child)

At 6.30pm, you arrive back in Edinburgh city centre.
