4 Day Scotland castle tour

This is a PRIVATE BESPOKE 4 day tour. Join us on this wonderful Scottish tour and enjoy an authentic experience on your Journey through the Scotland.

Get yourself ready for this amazing 4-day Scotland castle tour. We will pick you up from your accommodation with the first stop being a picture of the wonderful Forth Bridge. This spectacular feat of Victorian engineering is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Next stop in our journey is Falkland Palace. You will have time to explore this 16th century palace and wander streets of the medieval village of Falkland. This village features in the television show, Outlander.

Moving on to famous town of St Andrews. This ancient town with a beautiful beach is home to the 3rd oldest English-speaking university in the world. We will give you time to explore the cobbled lanes and ancient university.

We depart St Andrews and travel to Dunnottar castle. The location of this castle is by far the most spectacular in Europe. Perched on top of a cliff on a gigantic rock outcrop, takes your breath away on the first glimpse.

We the drop you off at your chosen accommodation in Aberdeen.

Day 2

In the morning we depart for Royal Deeside.

Castle Frazer is our first stop. This castle is one of the largest tower houses in Scotland. You will have time to explore and maybe you will discover quirky features such as the Laird’s Lug, hidden trapdoors, secret staircases and a spy hole.

Back on the vehicle and travel to Ballater and then onto Crathes Castle. You will have a chance to walk around this wonderful 16th-century castle, with its maze of turrets, towers, oak panels and painted ceilings.

You can also spend time in the walled garden, split into eight areas that encompass every green delight imaginable a sculpted topiary, soft herbaceous colours with modern exotic blooms. There are huge yew hedges that are thought to have been planted in 1702.

Day 3

We promised you castle and we are ensure we give you the best. First on our day’s itinerary is Fyvie Castle. This building dates back to the 13th Century. This 800 year old castle is possibly the best example of Scottish Baronial architecture.

As you wonder through the rooms and halls you will marvel at the paintings and portraits by some very famous artists such as Gainsborough, Raeburn, Romney, Batoni, Lawrence and Hoppner.

The tour moves on to the Queens royal Highland residence of Balmoral Castle. Balmoral Castle is one of two personal and private residences owned by The Royal Family, unlike the Royal Palaces, that belong to the Crown.

You will have a chance to walk in the footsteps of our Queen and explore the wonderful gardens.

We then head for an overnight in the lovely little village of Braemar.

Day 4

Departing Braemar we head through the spectacular Glenshee and then onto Scone Palace. This Palace has an exciting past as one of Scotland’s most important stately homes. In the 6th century it was the capital of the Picts. All of Scotland’s ancient Kings were crowned here.

Our Final castle situated in the middle of Loch Leven is also incredibly import in our history. Leven Castle is the location possibly our most famous monarch, Mary Queen of Scots was forced to give up her crown.

You can enjoy a boat ride over to the island and explore before we return and drop you off at your accommodation in Edinburgh as you end your Scotland castle tour.

We provide small group tours (no more than 16 passengers) of the Highlands, Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. Experience authentic Scotland with our small family business. We provide 2 separate scheduled tours - a 3 day tour to the Isle of Skye departing from St. Andrews, Dundee and Stirling, and a 4 day tour to the Isle of Skye and Inverness which departs from Edinburgh. We can also create bespoke tours for anyone who comes with the glimmer of an idea they want to make real. An exhaustive knowledge of Scotland also means that we are able to drop the itinerary for that unexpected magical detour.
