Urquhart Castle

Invergordon Shore Excursion – Inverness, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

Combine the mystery of Loch Ness, the drama of Urquhart Castle, and the charm of Inverness without worrying about logistics on this Invergordon Shore Excursion.

Regarded as the capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness has been a strategically important area for centuries and today is one of Europe's fastest-growing cities.

Your Inverness Loch Ness tour starts as you board a boat for a relaxing cruise on the world-famous Loch Ness. This loch (lake) has a depth of 755 feet, making it the largest loch by volume in the British Isles. It is also home to the legendary Loch Ness Monster.

Step off your boat at Urquhart Castle pier and visit this 13th-century castle—one of Scotland's most iconic picturesque landscapes.

Your tour continues on a coach trip back to Inverness with spectacular views of Loch Ness along the way. Upon arrival, you will explore Inverness on foot and hear some history, secrets, and stories of this fascinating city at the mouth of Loch Ness.

Be sure to bring your camera for photos of the massive Inverness Castle. This red sandstone structure is the latest in a succession of castles that have stood on this site throughout the centuries. You will also see Inverness Cathedral, a large Episcopal church that evolved from a humble mission effort in 1853.

Conclude your time in Inverness by picking up a souvenir or two in one of the shops before your return trip back to port.
