An amazing day out, Loch Tay Kayak Tour

Launching near Kenmore, on the east of the loch.

We'll find somewhere nice and secluded to stop for a drink and some lunch. This trip is great for novice or experienced paddlers all year round as we will take our time to take in the sights and marvel at the view of the mighty and often snow-capped Ben Lawers for this scenic backdrop.

  • Historic Loch Tay
  • Crannogs
  • Wildlife and History

Grade: EASY/INTERMEDIATE

Whether new to kayaking or experienced and looking for a full-day, 5-6hrs long slow pace adventure this trip is for you. The backdrop of snow-covered Ben Lawers in Winter, the colorful tree-lined hills in autumn, or the leafy greens and sunshine in the spring and summer. We will launch from just outside Kenmore and explore some visible remains of 2-3000-year-old crannogs, buildings built out on the water by our iron age ancestors. We'll look out for signs of beaver cuts on the trees and maybe if lucky see one! In the summer months, Osprey can sometimes be seen cruising the loch looking for a meal. Varied birdlife along the shores darting between the trees from dippers to kingfishers and many ducks and swans.

Whilst this trip does not require any specific technical know-how, a general level of fitness is required to be in the kayak for 5hrs. Don't worry we'll be going at a slow pace and taking breaks as we go to stretch our legs and stop for lunch, maybe a small fire in winter to warm our hands. If you are unsure, you could try one of our half-day trips to get a feel for it. This is suitable for younger explorers however for the very young we recommend shorter sessions, so they do not get agitated after a couple of hours.

There is a selection of single and double kayaks to choose from depending on experience and weather conditions.

The trip is suitable for those 12 years and older. All that you need to bring is some warm clothes for the weather, including shoes you don’t mind getting wet. No previous kayaking experience is needed. For younger explorers, we offer tours at alternative locations. Please get in touch for further details.

We will be in touch a few days before the trip with more detailed information, including the meeting point, chosen to suit us best for the weather conditions at the time. The cost would be £99pp. If you bring your own, venue suitable boat, the cost is £70pp.
