Outlander

Tour to sites around the Inverness area with connections to the 'Outlander' books and television series. Tour is for 1 -3 people and cost is £225. Per tour, NOT per person. We visit, Clava Cairns, Culloden, Beauly Priory, Wardlaw Mausoleum, Loch Ness

This tour starts from Inverness and visits some of the sites associated with the phenomenon that is 'Outlander'. Clava Cairns and standing stones are dated to 2000BC and are believed to be bronze age burial chambers. The Stones are also the inspiration for Diane Gabaldons time travelling character Claire Randall, where she travels back in time to the 1700s after touching the stones. Culloden battlefield is the site of the last pitched battle on British soil, where on 16th April 1746, Charles Edward Stuart, (Bonnie Prince Charlie) and his jacobite army were defeated by British government forces led by his cousin the Duke of Cumberland. Beauly Priory is the ancient buriel site of the Lovat Fraser's and the meeting place between Claire and the seer Maisri, in the story. Wardlaw Mausoleum in Kirkhill is a historic burial site of the Lover Fraser's . It is linked to Simon Fraser the 11 Lord Lovat, (the old fox), who is Jamie Frasers grandfather in the Outlander story. We may also visit Loch Ness . Castle Leod, the home of the Mackenzie chief, The Earl of Cromarty and said to be the inspiration for Castle Leoch in the series, is close by. It may be visited on the few selected open days each year. To book or enquire about a tour please email me at
