Want to avoid other tourists and learn all about Edinburgh's secrets? This Private Tour takes you to the parts of the New Town not often visited by tourists, or locals for that matter!

We will show some of Edinburgh's hidden gems, including Dean Village, lesser known parts of the New Town, Water of Leith and Stockbridge.

We also make sure to point out some local restaurants for you, and can adapt this tour depending on your interests, so email us and tell us a bit about yourselves for a truely custom experience!

If you are interested in the Stockbridge Market - a local favourite, book this tour on a Sunday.

Your tour will most likely be led by Gains, our experienced head walking tour guide who holds a PhD in Scottish history. Building of the New Town started in the 1700s, so it's nowhere near as modern as you might think! We'll tell you all about the fascinating history and characters who once lived here.

Local Eyes Tours

See Scotland with Local Eyes! All our tours are led by local guides who live in (or are from) the places we visit on tour, so if you're looking for an authentic experience of Scotland, you're in the right place! Local Eyes was started in 2013 by Chris Walker because he wanted to share his hometown with the world. Now, in 2018, we are a small group of excellent guides who all want to show you where we come from, and why we love Scotland. We offer a range of tours in and around Edinburgh and the Highlands. All our tours are private and we aim to customise them to best suit your needs.

Opening times

Our office is open for enquiries from 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Our tours run every day of the week and every month of the year!
