Private Tour from Glasgow to Glencoe, Rannoch Moor and Argyll
A private tour that takes you to the epic wilderness of Rannoch Moor and Glencoe in the heart of the West Highlands. There are also plenty of stops, Inverary, Luss on Loch Lomond plus villages, viewpoints and castles set in dramatic locations.
Between stops enjoy the passing magnificent scenery from your minibus with commentary from your driver. This tour is for your personal group with a maximum of seven passengers.
1. LussFirst stop is this very pretty village on the western shore of Loch Lomond, with wonderful views across to Ben Lomond and expansive loch views.
2. TyndrumHeading north, we travel deeper into the Highlands passing through increasingly dramatic landscape and the village of Crainlarich, before arriving in Tyndrum, a noted stop before the wilderness of Rannoch Moor.
3. Loch Tulla ViewpointA stop on the edge of Rannoch Moor with an epic view and a place to begin appreciating the scale of the empty landscape.
4. Rannoch MoorCrossing Rannoch Moor, one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Europe, a vast area of bog, small lochs, rivers and rock outcrops. We can stop in the middle at a viewpoint area, if you so wish.
5. Kingshouse HotelAn optional stop at this iconic landmark sitting at the top of Glencoe Valley, enjoy a coffee in the bar with its floor to ceiling windows providing yet more glorious views.
6. GlencoeTravelling down Glencoe Valley from Rannoch Moor we stop at the Glencoe visitor centre which tells about the natural and human history of this famous place.
7. Castle StalkerWest of Glencoe, we start travelling along the coast of the sea loch, Loch Linnhe. A stunning sight awaits, Castle Stalker, set on a tidal islet on Loch Laich, an inlet off Loch Linnhe.
8. Falls of LoraSouth of Castle Stalker, a natural occurrence awaits, if the timing suits our schedule. A tidal rapid that occurs when the tidal level in the Firth of Lorn drops below the level of water in Loch Etive.
9. Kilchurn CastleHeading inland towards Inverary another sight to behold. Kilchurn Castle, built around 1450, this long abandoned castle is still very impressive, and its setting at the top of Loch Awe with a backdrop of Highland splendour is magnificent.
10. InveraryArriving in Inverary, time to enjoy this picture perfect village at the top of Loch Fyne with the beautiful Inverary Castle.
11. Rest and Be ThankfulAnother magnificent viewpoint with beautiful views where you can see the old valley road built 272 years ago following the Jacobite rebellion. We then drop down to the head of Loch Long and make our way across to Loch Lomond again, then onto Glasgow.
