Old Course St Andrews - Via Ballot
The course that every golfer visiting Scotland wants to play on a golf trip to St Andrews. The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world, some of the features of the Old Course such as the Swilcan Bridge, Swilcan Burn, Valley of Sin, Road Hole Bunker and Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe. A public golf course, it is open to all, but due to its popularity tee times are not guaranteed. There are several ways to secure a tee time which we go into more detail on our St Andrews Tee Times page.
New Course St Andrews
This must be the oldest "New Course" in the world, dating back to 1895 when it was designed by the then Greenkeeper at the Old Course - Tom Morris. It boasts undulating fairways and challenging greens which makes it a great test of golf.
Jubilee Course St Andrews
The Jubilee was the 3rd course built at St Andrews in 1897. Originally constructed for Ladies and beginners it was later upgraded to a championship course. Located between the New Course and the sea, the Jubilee is now considered to be the most challenging of all the courses in St Andrews.
Castle Course St Andrews
The most recent addition in the portfolio of St Andrews Links Trust Courses, The Castle Course which opened in 2008 is set on a stunning clifftop location providing spectacular panoramic views over St Andrews from both the golf course and its impressive clubhouse. The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.
Fairmont St Andrews Kittocks Course
The Kittocks Course at the Fairmont St Andrews Resort, lies a couple of miles south of St Andrews. Set in a 520-acre location, the Fairmont St Andrews Resort offers 36 holes of spectacular championship golf on the Kittocks and Torrance Courses. On a clifftop location similar to the adjacent Sr Andrews Castle Course, the |Kittocks offers sea view from many of the holes from the 5th onwards. After a gentle start the course becomes more difficult from the 4th onwards but is a joy to play.
Carnoustie
Carnoustie is thought to be the most demanding of all the current Open Championship venues, hosting it 7 times. The first record of golf played there was in 1527 with 10 holes being constructed in 1842, before Old Tom Morris extended the course to 18 holes in 1857. It was once again altered and lengthened by James Braid in 1926. The 6th hole - Hogan's Alley is infamous and reckoned to be one of if not the greatest Par 5 hole in the world of golf. The final 3 holes at Carnoustie are about as tough as you will find anywhere in the world of golf.
