A crafting township on the Atlantic coast of South Uist, Askernish is ideal for wildlife spotting, with everything from hen harriers and lapwings, to short-eared owls and local sheep.
There are plenty of opportunities to explore the great outdoors here with miles off-road cycling paths, hills and beaches.
Askernish is perhaps best known for Askernish Golf Course, a wonderful links course which was first laid out by 'Old' Tom Morris in 1891.
