The town developed in the 17th and 18th centuries around coal mining and gunpowder production and became a holiday resort in the 19th century. It is home to Gorebridge Station, one of the stops on the Borders Railway train line.
You’ll find plenty of things to see and do near Gorebridge in the Explore More section below, such as the Gore Glen Woodland Park, which boasts a 2 mile wooded path network and is perfect for a relaxing stroll or bike ride with the family, and Vogrie Country Park, where you can play a round of golf on the 9 hole golf course, enjoy a delicious bite to eat at the Cedar Wood Café and let the kids go wild in the adventure play area or the toddler play park for younger children. From May to September, Arniston House also offers tours of the gorgeous family home, giving you access to the beautiful interiors of this striking William Adam designed house (tour times vary).
