Isle of Inveruglas
The small wooded Isle of Inveruglas on the shore of Loch Lomond is located within Inveruglas Bay three miles north of Tarbet.
Situated at the mouth of the black stream opposite Inversnaid at the north end of the loch, the island boasts magnificent ruins of a Z-plan castle which was once the principal stronghold to the chiefs of the Clan MacFarlane and which was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell’s Roundhead troops in the 17th century.
