The village was planned and founded at the end of the 17th century and has marvellous views across the Carse of Stirling, one of the largest flood planes in Scotland. Thornhill’s location between Stirling and the Trossachs make it an ideal location for exploring the surrounding National Park.
In the village there are two pubs. The Lion and the Unicorn was established in 1635 and the Crown Hotel is an old 18th century coaching inn. Next to the villages is Flanders Moss, this is one of the largest raised bogs in Britain and is host to an abundance of beautiful plants and rare wildlife.
