Pitlochry
A Walk Through Time (half day)
A lovely half-day walk around Pitlochry, visiting a spectacular waterfall, a ruined castle, an old coaching inn and brewery, Pitlochry dam and fish ladder and a bouncy bridge! This walk offers super views of Pitlochry.
Starting at the Pitlochry information centre, we walk up through the woods below the Atholl Palace Hotel to the spectacular Black Spout, a 60m waterfall. After following paths through woods and fields, we come to the ruined Caisteal Dubh (the “Black Castle”) which has an interesting story to tell. After visiting Moulin, with its old coaching inn and brewery, we walk past the Dane's Stone and then down to The Cuilc. We then walk down to the banks of Loch Faskally. After crossing the dam we walk down beside the famous fish ladder and across a bouncy bridge! The path soon brings us back into the centre of Pitlochry. The walk offers super views of Pitlochry and Ben Vrackie, and it follows mainly good paths and tracks, but with a field to cross to reach the Caisteal Dubh.
The walk starts and finishes at the Pitlochry iCentre (the tourist information centre) on Atholl Road in the centre of Pitlochry. The walk is 8.5km with a total ascent of 210m and will take approx 4 hours. We run the walk in the morning (starting at 930am) or the afternoon (starting at 1pm).
You will need to bring with you a pair of good trekking shoes or boots, waterproofs, a small rucksack, some warm spare clothing, hand sanitiser, and something to eat and drink. Children over the age of 12 are welcome on this walk but they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Sorry, but no dogs.
The walk will be private and is available for a group of up to six people through our online booking system. If you have a larger group, please contact us to discuss.
