Scottish lochs and smaller lochans, often known as 'lakes' in other countries, are a sparkling feature of the landscape and you'll find over 30,000 across the country.
Lochs in Scotland - where to start? Some, like lochs Ness and Lomond, are large. Some, like lochs Drunkie and Gamhna, are small and some, including Loch Morar and Lochan a' Chladheimh, are mysterious. All are waiting to be explored and are ideal for watersports, shore-side walks, wildlife watching, fishing and much more. In 2021 we're celebrating our Year of Coasts & Waters - how many of these lochs do you recognise?
