The beaches in the Highlands offer some of the most beautiful coastline found in Scotland.

The Highlands are home to some of Scotland’s finest beaches, perfect for relaxing and enjoying Scotland’s beautiful coastal scenery. Without traveling too far from the bustling city of Inverness, you can stroll down the golden sands of Nairn, spot seals and dolphins at the Black Isle or scuba dive in the sparkling waters of the Moray Firth.

The northern town of Thurso is another must visit for those pursuing watersport adventures. Known as Scotland’s surfing capital, Thurso’s incredibly fast reef and beach breaks attract world-class surfing competitions and fans from all over the world.

Whilst visiting the northern Highlands, why not explore Scotland’s first Geopark? Covering one of the most sparsely populated parts of Europe, the North West Highlands Geopark boasts some sublime coastlines including magnificent Sandwood Bay, the ultimate secluded beach.

Some truly remarkable seaside locations can be found in the western Highlands. Head to Lochaber and discover the Silver Sands of Morar, a series of stunning white beaches dotted across the coastline with clear turquoise waters and striking views of the Isle of Skye. You may recognise the spectacular surroundings of Camusdarach beach, which featured in the classic movie Local Hero.

Use the listings of Highland beaches to plan your trip to the Scottish coast today.
