Perthshire is the perfect location for a great family day out with a range of activities which promise to engage and entertain both children and adults alike for hours. From castles and palaces, luscious gardens, museums and much more, Perthshire offers something for everyone.

If you’ve ever wondered what life was like in Scotland during the Iron Age, visit the Scottish Crannog Centre on the banks of Loch Tay at Kenmore. The history of the time is brought to life through a fascinating series of interactive exhibitions and special events.

Another slice of history for the whole family to enjoy can be found at the Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum, just east of Blairgowrie. The impressive collection of stone carvings dates back to Pictish times and is said to be one of the most important collections of its kind in western Europe.

Perthshire is also home to several castles and one of its most distinctive is Blair Castle in Blair Atholl. Enjoy a tour of the castle where the kids will love the special detective's challenge before exploring the beautiful gardens and grounds which include a woodland adventure playground.

Further south on the outskirts of Perth, stop off at Scone Palace and Gardens for a great family day out. One of the highlights has to be the Murray Star Maze which features 2,000 trees that have been planted to give a unique tartan effect. Are you up for the challenge?

There's plenty family-friendly activities and attractions to enjoy across Perthshire, so make sure you make the most of your visit to the area affectionately known as 'Big Tree Country'.
