Water courses

A number of the Scottish Borders' scenic courses are further enhanced by being situated near water. You'll find many courses located on the banks of peaceful rivers and you can discover the course where a hole is played across the North Sea.

Eyemouth Golf Course

The course at Eyemouth is the only coastal golf course in the Scottish Borders. The par 3, 6th hole at Eyemouth was voted number one in Britain’s "most extraordinary golf hole." It is actually played across the North Sea!

Duns Golf Course

At Duns Golf Club the Wellrig burn runs through the course and comes into play on several of the holes. There are a couple of short climbs but mostly the course has gentle slopes and gives inspiring views across to Duns and south to the Cheviot Hills.

St Boswells Golf Club

St Boswells Golf Club lies in a tranquil setting beside the River Tweed. The course is an enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities and one of the less physically demanding courses in the area.

The Hirsel Golf Club, Coldstream, Scottish Borders

The Hirsel Golf Club

This course in Coldstream is situated on the Hirsel Estate and has the River Leet running through it. A fine example of a parkland course where visitors are sure to receive a warm welcome.

Roxburghe Course

The Roxburghe Golf Course

This Championship standard course has the River Teviot flowing next to a couple of holes and water features as well as the ‘Viaduct’ 14th, destined to become one of the most photographed holes in golf.

Torwoodlee Golf Club

Set two miles north of Galashiels on the A7, the banks of the Gala Water lie close to the Torwoodlee fairways. The course is testing and has a range of conditions, ideal for players of all levels.

Cardrona Golf Course at Cardona Hotel and Country Club, Scottish Borders

MacDonald Cardrona Golf Hotel and Country Club

This is the newest addition to the area and was designed by Dave Thomas, the world-renowned golf course architect. The Championship standard course is a combination of a parkland and woodland course and runs along the banks of the River Tweed.
