If you hold the desire to truly escape from everyday life, then a stay in Badachro is definitely for you. Forget your car and leave your worries behind during your stay at Creel Cabin, and take in the magnificent views of Badachro Bay on the West Coast of Scotland. We challenge you to find anywhere else as peaceful and remote as Dry Island. Breathe in the fresh sea-air whilst you watch the wildlife that surrounds the loch. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of some dolphins and seals.
The cabin is nestled amongst the trees upon the shore of the 'Isle of Islonia', where only one other property is located on the entire island. In order to reach Creel Cabin, you will walk down a steep path lined with quirky wooden 'creatures' to reach the floating bridge. Due to the nature of this path, unfortunately this property will be inaccessible to those in wheelchairs and for people with walking difficulties. At the end of the path you will reach a floating bridge. It is here that you realise you are about to say goodbye to the outside world and enter your own tranquil little bubble. The owner will greet you here and will take your luggage across by boat (and you too, if you so wish!), adding to the overall experience of your stay.
Creel Cabin sleeps two people comfortably with a double bedroom, shower room and boasts a cosy open plan kitchen/living room area fitted to a good standard with all of the necessary appliances. You can easily sit and relax with your favourite tipple and gaze at the beautiful mountainous scenery from the sofa through the french windows. These open to a small decked area just 5m away from the waters edge with seating and a pit barbeque; the perfect place to spend those warm summer days. During low tide, you can walk over to a smaller island. The house sits in the idyllic setting for star gazing and occasionally you may spot the Northern Lights and meteorite showers.
As a fisherman himself, the owner of the property offers trips on his traditional creel fishing boat, where you can help him reel in the produce from the crystal-clear waters - a tradition that has been part of his family from centuries gone by. Complimentary fresh shellfish is also provided directly to your door at the beginning of your stay, with more available to purchase if you so wish. Knowing that your delicious dinner of lobster, langoustines, squat lobster or crab was caught in the waters surrounding the cabin is a satisfying way to end your day. If you don't fancy cooking, the famous Badachro Inn is situated a short distance away, where they will be more than happy to welcome you in with a pint and tell you all about the rich folklore of time gone by.
