The Strath Oykel is a wide, green and fertile valley dominating the landscape in this wild but very beautiful part of the Northern Highlands. The famous salmon fishing River Oykel rises in the mountains near Ullapool on the west and drains into the North Sea via the Kyle of Sutherland on the east and is a field away from the house. Langwell Lodge occupies a commanding position and has been totally renovated to provide all the facilities you need for your holiday whilst maintaining the original features, charm and character. A series of halls and staircases guides you through to all parts of the house and a cleverly designed adjoining annex can be used as part of the main accommodation or blocked off for smaller parties.
On the ground floor, accommodation comprises a large traditional dining kitchen leading to a living room with cosy wood burning stove and TV. There is a also a reasonable size scullery with kitchen appliances, American style fridge freezer and worktops. The spacious lounge with open fire and sofas, has large north and east facing windows giving extensive views of the gardens around. There is a games room which can also be used as a further dining room with billiard/dining table seating up to 12. Access can be made to the new 'self contained' wing accessed from the ground floor either by its own front door or through a secret bookcase in the dining/games room. This has another kitchen, dining and living area, twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and a further twin bedroom and bathroom. This accommodation offers independence and privacy for those not wishing to spend much time in the main house. The first floor can be accessed from stairs off the main hall or by a secret bookcase door in the annex contained in the second twin room. All bedrooms are charming and equipped with fine quality beds, furniture and white bed linen. There is a double room, two twin rooms and two bathrooms.
Langwell Lodge is situated on a working farm at the end of the farm track adjacent to the farm steading which contains animals and machinery that would be expected from an active farm. Access road is also a farm track and not a tarmac road. The lodge has a large walled private garden and many areas round the house for children to explore and play. There are many walks from the house and a wide range of things to do within a short car drive away.
