Aquila Ecology is a small independent company based in the beautiful surroundings of Strathearn and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park in the conservation village of St Fillans. Having been inspired by the natural beauty of the area along with the richness of species, Andrea and Terry founded Aquila Ecology so that they could share their knowledge and enthusiasm with others who visit or live in the area. Aquila Ecology’s overall vision is to show the wonder of nature and the beauty of a range of habitats both at home and abroad to create lasting memories.
Terry has been a keen birdwatcher for over 40 years and graduated in Environmental Studies at Liverpool Hope University. Andrea previously had a career in Further Education Teaching, but returned to Higher Education to gain a BSc. in Wildlife and Countryside Conservation at the University of Hull. Both have worked and volunteered for a number of conservation organisations at home and abroad mostly completing survey and monitoring of mammals, birds (especially raptor species) and amphibians and reptiles. With this wealth of knowledge and experience of British wildlife as well the wildlife in other parts of Europe, Andrea and Terry are well placed to lead walks and tours and offer training.
With over 5 years experience working in Ecological Consultancy, Andrea can provide a professional and prompt Project Management service for all Ecological Surveys and advice work personally and through her network of qualified and experienced colleagues, all of whom are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
We have strong values when it comes to nature and the environment. We try to minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible by reducing, re-using or recycling all office stationery and survey equipment; using only ecologically sound cleaning products; minimising the use of multiple vehicles and planning journeys and work to prevent unnecessary mileage – one of our vehicles uses Hybrid technology. We also donate funds and volunteer our time to a number of conservation organisations and projects.
Overall, our main aim is that our customers and clients go away feeling that they have had a great experience with us and have received value for money. And of course, we want them to come back!
