Outbound journey via optional stops along the Ayrshire coast & Culzean castle

Ayrshire coast & beaches, Ayr, Burns museum, Dunure, Culzean castle & country park, Maidens & Girvan beaches with stunning views of the Isle of Arran & volcanic Ailsa Craig.

The road is climbing and travelling inland, eventually we cross over the border into Galloway.

Galloway has been fiercely independent in the past and has a fascinating history.

Once we hit the Loch Ryan, the sealoch with Cairnryan (the main ferryport to Northern Ireland) & Stranraer, the architecture and feel to it already shows the many strong Irish connections.

Stranraer being the largest town offering some great coastal views or a stop in the old town for the shops, nearby Castle Kennedy is an optional stop.

We then head the stunning coastal route towards Portpatrick with views across to Northern Ireland.

Optional visit south via Port Logan to the Mull of Galloway (it’s a long way), one of the best kept secrets in the UK. is the southernmost point in Scotland (further south than Newcastle upon Tyne) and on a clear day you see Northern Ireland, the Isle of Mull in the Irish seas and across to Cumbria & the English Lake District. The Rhins of Galloway peninsula remains an unspoiled paradise for visitors on the lookout for peace and tranquillty.

Miles of sandy beaches, splendid views and cliff top walks. Wildlife in the area is abundant and the Mull of Galloway is one of the best places in the UK to view dolphins, porpoises and many sea birds. The warm climate means that the area is blessed with stunning gardens and a RSPB nature reserve.

In addition we offer the journey East to the Isle of Whithorn and the origins of Scottish Christianity through St. Ninians.

Along the scenic route to Wigtown (famous for its bookshops) and Newton Stewart we are heading inland into the wild and dramatic hills of the Galloway Forest park before we reach New Galloway and the scenery up north is stunning.
