Travel to and around Dundee
Getting to
Train
Dundee is easy to reach by train from many train stations in Scotland and the rest of the UK via Glasgow or Edinburgh. Travel to and from Dundee with the Caledonian Sleeper, the train station is just a 5-minute walk away from Dundee city centre.
Bus and coach
Megabus and Citylink run frequent services to Dundee from major cities across the UK.
Go green and travel to Dundee on an electric bus with frequent services running to Dundee from Edinburgh & Glasgow.
Driving
Dundee is approximately a 90 minute drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and just over an hour to Aberdeen and approximately 2 and a half hours to Inverness.
Flying
Dundee Airport is a 10-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the city centre.
There are currently direct flights from London City, Belfast City and Shetland which run throughout the week.
Getting around
Bus and coach
Dundee is fairly compact, and it’s easy to get to most places on foot or by bike. You can also take advantage of the local bus services, operated by Xplore Dundee and Stagecoach, with buses departing regularly from High Street to Broughty Ferry.
Travel passes
Dundee PlusBus gives you unlimited bus travel on services run by Xplore Dundee and Stagecoach around the urban area of Dundee city and Tayport.
Walking
Dundee can be easily explored on foot with most key attractions within walking distance of each other.
Cycling
Embark on a cycling adventure around Dundee. You'll find plenty of routes here and if you've left your bike at home, you can hire one at many local bike shops dotted across the city.
Taxi
Book a taxi from a range of taxi and minicab services around the city.
Vehicle hire
If you have a preference to drive, you can hire a vehicle to explore further afield.
