Falls of Dochart
Loch Tay Tour
You may not find monsters in the deeps here, but this scenic tour around Perthshire’s largest Loch provides history, culture and superb views of the diverse Scottish landscapes.
Arriving in Aberfeldy, we first visit the Bolfracks Estate, whose Gardens boast rare plant species and offer great views of the Tay Valley. You can also admire the Croftmoraig stone circle and Standing Stones before we continue on our drive round the North shore of the Loch.
There are no scheduled stops on our way to the picturesque village of Killin at the West end of the Loch, however there are ample opportunities to stop and take photos as we pass the Ben Lawers Mountain Range. As we enter the burial lands of Clan MacNab, we will stop so you can view the mighty Falls of Dochart, before stopping for lunch.
We now turn our attention to the scenic South Loch Tay road, with more spectacular views across the Loch. We stop at the pretty 18th century village of Acharn, where there is a popular walk to the Falls of Acharn. For those who want to enjoy the 60-minute walk around the Falls, the tour can take a longer pause here.
We now continue to the East end of the Loch, where we stop at The Crannog Centre. Here you can learn what life was like living on the Loch 2,500 years ago. Finally, you can take a last stroll next to the Loch before we head back to your accommodation.
