Speyside Way

Speyside Way Walking Holidays

Hike from Buckie to Newtonmore along the course of the spectacular River Spey on the Speyside Way. Largely low-level paths offer stunning views of heather-clad hills and the Cairngorm Mountains, and some of Scotland's most famous distilleries await.

Walking holidays with Contours are self-guided, so departure times are completely flexible and you can build your walking group entirely from friends and family — or opt to hike alone. Daily luggage transfers are included, along with 24/7 emergency support, breakfast each morning, and all the maps and guidebooks you'll need to find your way.

You have three Speyside Way routes to choose from.

The Full-Trail Tour

Enjoy all 86 miles of the Speyside Way on a full-route walking holiday from Buckie to Newtonmore. We offer 7- and 8-day itineraries, so you can explore at your own pace.

With Tomintoul Spur

Add a few extra days of adventure with a detour out along the beautiful Tomintoul Spur. The Spur is steeper than the rest of the Speyside Way, making this a more challenging holiday, but the views over the Cairngorms are sublime. Choose from multiple itinerary options, from 8 to 10 days long.

Speyside Way Short Break

This three-day walking break explores the central section of the Speyside Way, from Craigellachie to Grantown-on-Spey. It's the perfect escape for a long weekend, or to build into a longer holiday around Scotland's best sights.

With so much to visit along the Speyside Way, from distilleries to standing circles and historic castles, you can always add extra nights at stops of your choosing to build in some rest days and explore the area in full.
