Explore some of the most rewarding hiking and walking trails in Scotland, enjoying city wonders, charming coastlines, and iconic landscapes.

Experience Scotland's great trails and routes

There's nothing quite like venturing into Scotland's great outdoors on two feet. Exploring at your own pace, feeling the crisp Scottish air on your face, soaking in the mystery that shrouds some of our ancient forests, and gazing out across glittering lochs that are a real gem to see during a fiery sunset. Scotland is also perfect for an unforgettable multi-day walk, leading you through dramatic landscapes whether it’s your first long hike or next big challenge.

Before you go

You can walk almost anywhere in Scotland, but it's important you follow guidance and signposts, and adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code when you do. Remember:

  • Leave no trace – take all your litter with you.
  • Stay on waymarked paths and routes – this avoids trampling on delicate habitats and native plant life.
  • Keep dogs on a lead – especially around farm animals and busy trails with other walkers and dogs.

Experience the heart of Scotland’s cities at your own pace, with easy-to-follow waymarked paths that dive into culture, history, and green spaces all in one go. Or embark on a fascinating guided walk with a local expert that lets you in on all the city secrets and tales.
