  1. P&J Live Bucksburn

    There’s a new kid on the block in the world of entertainment. Having opened in 2019, P&J Live is Aberdeen’s state-of-the-art events venue and is already taking centre-stage with its dazzling line up of stars. From showcasing home-grown talent including comedian Kevin Bridges and singer Gerry Cinnamon to Britpop legends like Liam Gallagher, you’re bound to have a good night out in the Granite city!

    The venue is easily accessible by public transport with the PJ1 by Stagecoach and Jet 727 bus service running frequently, train connections to Dyce Train Station, extensive bicycle and car parking, a taxi drop-off and pick-up point, and ferry services disembarking at the city centre’s harbour.

    Get ready for a summer of fun at the Aberdeen Highland Games. This cultural treat brings together pipe bands from across the globe to some of the best heavyweight athletes. Other highlights include the caber toss, Highland dance performances and, if you wish to show your competitive side, why not take part in a good old-fashioned game of tug o’ war?

    Bringing colour to the city streets is Nuart Aberdeen. The only street festival of its kind in Scotland, you’ll find impressive art murals from national and international street artists who use the city walls and streets as their canvas. The event is held annually over the summer and is a great way to explore the city. Take a guided tour or go it alone and follow the handy digital map. You can even pick up a hard copy from the Aberdeen iCentre located in Union Street. The picture above is just a sneak peek of what you can expect.

    After a day of sightseeing, you’ll no doubt have worked up an appetite. If you’re visiting the city in early spring, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for Aberdeen Restaurant Week. Local eateries across the city will be cooking up a storm with their foodie delights and will be offering two exclusive menus for lunch and dinner at a reasonable fixed price. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your coat and explore Aberdeen’s thriving food and drink scene.

  5. Aberdeen Christmas Village Broad Street

    From mid-November to late December, the city puts on a festive display for the little ones and the young at heart. Watch Broad Street transform into a winter wonderland with the Aberdeen Christmas Village. Looking to don your skates? Now is the time to hone your skills at the open-air ice rink and enjoy lots of traditional fairground rides like the helter-skelter and horse carousel. Of course, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without sampling some tasty delicacies from around the world. Head to the scenic quadrangle of Marischal College and tantalise your tastebuds with Belgian fries, footlong bratwursts and Dutch pancakes with Nutella and mini marshmallows.

    SPECTRA - Scotland’s Festival of Light

    Here to brighten spirits in the long, dark winter months is SPECTRA Aberdeen. This popular light festival takes place every February and is awash with immersive light installations and projections on city landmarks including Aberdeen Street Gallery, Marischal College, Union Street and much more. It’s a great way to embrace the remaining winter nights and you don’t need to spend a single penny either.

    Entertaining audiences since 1906, His Majesty’s Theatre really knows how to put on a show. Located next to Aberdeen Central Library, book a ticket to see a spectacular musical, drama or enjoy a night of laughter with a comedy gig.

    Before the curtain rises, head to the bar and sip on your favourite beverage or grab one during the interval. Make sure to keep those rumbling tummies at bay with a bite to eat at the theatre’s 1906 Restaurant or Café too.

    Aberdeen doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to musical performances. There is something for everyone across the musical spectrum ranging from classical, rock and pop to Scottish traditional folk, jazz, roots and blues. Embrace the chance to see some of your favourite artists and sing-along to some classic hits from Leo Sayer and Morrissey to Paloma Faith and Emeli Sande.

    It’s not just music though, catch your favourite comedians on stage for lots of belly laughs with the likes of Omid Djalili, Rob Beckett and Joe Lycett gracing the stage.
