So another Mofest has passed us by and it was yet again another sundrenched affair. I spent a memorable weekend catching up with some old faces, soaking up the sun and the festival vibes and I even managed to catch a few great bands too.
This year’s festival came back fighting with headliner Eddie Reader fitting the bill not to mention a brand new outdoor stage (as opposed to the exposed side of a lorry of bygone years).
Top of the bill for me however had to be Buffalo Soldier, a Dundee-based reggae band, back again for another year and feeling a lot of love from the steadily growing fan base in Montrose. Coming up for a close second was Ska/reggae outfit Urang Mutang who blew the socks off the audience both old and young – it was endearing to see the older revellers pulling their expert ska moves alongside the local youth.
Mix that in with the stunning sunset over Montrose Basin and you’ve got yourself an unforgettable weekend. Ok so it’s not Glastonbury or T in the Park but you really couldn’t beat the atmosphere and spectacular setting of this wee gem of a festival.
