It was at Scotland’s oldest university where they first met as students around a decade ago – and last week the now married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spoke on their love for St Andrews at a fundraising dinner in London.
William reflected on his time in St Andrews with great happiness:
First of all we have been privileged to receive the best university educations. Secondly, we all love St Andrews. We love it for the academic start in life it gave us. We love it for its traditions – traditions that lie at the very heart of Scotland’s history.
We love it because it made us look beyond St Andrews, beyond the borders of Scotland, to the wide world. But perhaps most important of all, we love it for the friendships is has given us.
Kate also spoke on the evening for her love for Scotland and revealed her one regret from her time in St Andrews was that she failed to manage how to play golf – I’m guessing she was too busy using her free time to study though! Read more about the evening here.
There’s so much to see and do in St Andrews and the region of Fife – why not find out out what you can see and do in Fife today.
