The route also takes us past the most photographed Scottish Castle; Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the Skye Bridge to the mysterious Isle of Skye and our overnight destination Portree. (Overnight: Portree)

DAY 4: Inverness

Hunt for the elusive monster with a cruise on Loch Ness before turning northward to the stunning beauty of the north-west Highlands. We take in the beautiful town of Beauly with its Priory dating back to 1230, then it's into the rugged and isolated mountains that secure Scotland's place as one of the last great wilderness in Europe. We try a dram of the 'water of life' at a Highland Whisky Distillery before heading back to Inverness for the evening. (Overnight: Inverness)

DAY 5: Inverness to Edinburgh

We explore Culloden Battlefield, the scene of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s defeat back in 1746 then the mysterious chamber cairns of Clava Cairns; which inspired the hit TV series Outlander. We visit the Highland Folk Museum to get a real taste of Highland life from the past centuries before heading to Dunkeld with its mighty cathedral, on our way back to Edinburgh. The tour returns at approximately 5.00pm.

Trip on the world-famous Jacobite Steam Train (only available at the time of booking)

The steam train was featured in a number of Harry Potter movies as the ‘Hogwarts Express’ and is an outstanding way to take in the beautiful scenery of the Scottish west coast. Starting in Fort William, the train travels through some of the most spectacular landscapes of Scotland. The Jacobite passes through Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his Standard to begin his ill-fated claim to the throne in 1745. We cross over 21 arches of the impressive Glenfinnan Viaduct with amazing views down Loch Sheil and head to the west coast. Look out for the ‘Small Isles’ of Rum, Eigg, Muck and the stunning white beaches used in films such as Local Hero and Highlander.
