Bonnie Prince Charlie Tour
Find out about Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites on this private Tour, with one of two tours by Tartan Tours Scotland. Our tours follow the Jacobite's along with two of the most famous Jacobite's Bonnie Prince Charlie and Rob Roy MacGregor. Each Bonnie Prince Charlie Tour covers two locations in two full packed days. Tours can be booked individually or both together over two days.
The Bonnie Prince Charlie Tour on day one covers two Jacobite risings and visits places that were frequented and witnessed by both Rob Roy and Prince Charlie.
Day two on the Bonnie Prince Charlie Tour again covers both Jacobite risings, with both locations marking the very end of the 1745 rising and the Jacobite cause.
Our two famous Jacobite's go down in Scottish and British History both believing in the Jacobite cause with their lives crossing between 1720 and 1734. Rob Roy was born in 1671 and died in 1734 and fought along with Bonnie Dundee in the failed Jacobite rising of 1689. Bonnie Prince Charlie was born in 1720 and died in exile in 1788 and led another failed Jacobite rising in 1745.
Most recently the story behind Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite cause, was portrayed in the recent much acclaimed television series Outlander. Where it followed Clan Fraser and its fight for the Prince and the Jacobite's.
The Bonnie Prince Charlie Tour Tour takes you on an incredible journey - that eventually saw the end of the Stuarts claim to the British Throne but more importantly the destruction of the Highlands and Clan system in Scotland
