Leith Walk

Eat The World Leith Walk

Explore the coolest, most vibrant and the longest street in Edinburgh on this international guided walking two and half hour ‘long lunch’ food tour. There are six delicious stops on Leith Walk:

Leith Walk has been on the international food stage since the Romans arrived with amphoras of wine for R and R. This food walking tour reflects Scotland’s wealth of visitors who stayed and brought their fantastic cooking. I was spoilt for choice when devising this tour as so many vibrant cultures have made this area of Edinburgh their home. Walk the rampart from Calton Hill to Leith (that is how Leith Walk started) to keep Cromwell at bay to the actual port where whalers docked ( they picked up some penguins which ended up in Edinburgh Zoo) Rich in history and food culture - this is a vibrant international walk.

2.Leith Walk International - explore the coolest, most vibrant and the longest street in Edinburgh on this international guided walking two and half hour ‘long lunch’ food tour. There are six delicious stops on Leith Walk: Swedish meat balls, Kenyan mezze, Turkish boreks, Greek orange cake and coffee, Portuguese egg tarts and of course something Scottish- a visit to a traditional sweetie shop for Edinburgh Rock and tablet; Leith Walk was built as rampart to deter Cromwell, now it is a dynamic link from Edinburgh to the port of Leith.

Tours run 12pm and cover the history and development of Leith Walk and last two and half hours and again are a substantial lunch.

 STOP PRESS:

Leith is in one of the 49 coolest neighbourhoods in the world for 2021 named by Time Out: Leith has seen off competition from hotspots in New York, London and Barcelona to shoot to the top of Time Out’s coveted rankings. The coolest neighbourhoods were selected by Time Out editors and more than 27,000 city-dwellers

Edinburgh Food Safari

Eat and Drink Like An Edinburgh Local with Edinburgh Food Safari Edinburgh Food Safari offers two unique-off-the-beaten-track, guided food historical walking tours in the Georgian UNESCO heritage New Town, (best of Scottish produce) and a more international themed one on Leith Walk, all in the central of Edinburgh. Tours are two/three hours long – six stops so a substantial lunch. Tour groups are in small numbers; maximum 10 guests , but I can easily accommodate more guests as I can increase guides and vary meeting points and vary time and days. Extra dates can be added to suit.
