Old Man of Storr

Edinburgh, Skye & the Highlands · 8 days

8-day small-group tour of Scotland (max 8 people) with a French-speaking guide, from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye and the Highlands

Edinburgh, the Isle of Skye, and the Highlands over 8 days, in a small group of up to 8 people with a French-speaking guide-driver based in Edinburgh. Hand-picked B&Bs and hotels, an unhurried pace, and optional walks adapted to the group. Every day has been designed and tested over dozens of departures.

Day 1 · Edinburgh: Free arrival. If you arrive before 4pm, we take you on a guided walk of the Old Town in French: the Royal Mile, Grassmarket, and the hidden closes. Overnight in Edinburgh.

Day 2 · Edinburgh to Fort William: Stirling Castle, a coffee stop in Callander, then Glencoe in the afternoon. The Three Sisters, Glen Etive if time allows, and a walk at Glencoe Lochan. Overnight in a guest house at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Day 3 · Fort William to the Isle of Skye: The Glenfinnan Viaduct (the Harry Potter bridge) in the morning, then the fishing port of Mallaig and the 45-minute ferry to Skye, with views of the Small Isles. A distillery visit and tasting in the afternoon. Three nights in Portree, the island's capital.

Day 4 · North Skye: The most photographed day of the trip. The Old Man of Storr in the morning (a 5 km optional walk), Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, the otherworldly Quiraing, and the Fairy Glen to finish.

Day 5 · West Skye: Talisker Bay and its black-pebble beach with a waterfall, the turquoise Fairy Pools beneath the Cuillin, Talisker Visitor Centre for whisky lovers, and Neist Point Lighthouse at sunset if the weather cooperates.

Day 6 · Skye to the Cairngorms: Eilean Donan Castle, the most photographed castle in Scotland, then Loch Ness and the ruins of Urquhart Castle. In the afternoon, Culloden Battlefield and the Bronze Age standing stones of Clava Cairns. Overnight in the heart of the Cairngorms.

Day 7 · Cairngorms to Edinburgh: A forest walk at Loch an Eilein, the open-air Highland Folk Museum, and a stop at House of Bruar. Dunkeld or the Hermitage depending on time. Back in Edinburgh by late afternoon.

Day 8 · Departure: Free morning in Edinburgh. Arthur's Seat for early risers, shopping on Victoria Street, or a last coffee in the Old Town before your transfer to the airport.

Included: 7 nights in B&Bs and hotels (double or twin rooms), Scottish breakfast every morning, a French-speaking guide-driver from Day 2 to Day 7, a 9-seat van, a 14-day Explorer Pass for castles and historic sites, and a guided walk of Edinburgh in French on Day 1. Single rooms available on request.
