Der West Highland Way ist wahrscheinlich eine der berühmtesten Mehrtageswanderungen in Schottland. Menschen aus der ganzen Welt kommen, um entweder kleine Abschnitte der Wanderung oder die gesamten 96 Meilen zu absolvieren! Und es ist nicht schwer zu verstehen, warum!

Egal, ob Sie die gesamte Route absolvieren möchten oder nur wegen der Aussicht unterwegs sind, diese eintägige Wanderung ist perfekt, um einen Eindruck davon zu bekommen, was der West Highland Way zu bieten hat.

Sie verlassen Edinburgh und reisen direkt in das wunderschöne Dorf Drymen, das unser Ausgangspunkt für diese Wanderung ist.

Hier befindet sich eines der ältesten Pubs des Landes und Sie erfahren einige interessante Fakten über das Dorf. Vom Parkplatz aus beginnen wir unsere Wanderung durch den Garabhan-Wald.

Während Sie durch diesen verzauberten Wald spazieren, werden Sie sich angesichts der faszinierenden Geschichte darüber, warum die Straße gebaut wurde, fragen, wie das Leben in einer der blutigsten Perioden der schottischen Geschichte, den Jakobitenaufständen, wirklich war.

Nachdem wir den Wald nun hinter uns haben, erstreckt sich das offene Moorland bis zu unserem nächsten Ziel, dem Conci Hill. Der Conic Hill ist Teil einer alten Verwerfungslinie und bietet spektakuläre Ausblicke auf Loch Lomond, den größten Binnensee Großbritanniens.

Ihr Guide wird Ihnen interessante Fakten über Loch Lomond erzählen, von seiner maximalen Tiefe bis hin zu den seltsamen Tieren, die eine der Inseln bewohnen. Tiere, die man normalerweise nicht mit Schottland in Verbindung bringt.

Nach ein paar Fotos von Ihren Erfolgen bei der Eroberung dieses wunderschönen Hügels steigen wir hinunter in das atemberaubende Dorf Balmaha, wo wir ein wohlverdientes Mittagessen genießen.

Nachdem wir uns nun mit dem köstlichen Essen aus dem Oak Tree Inn verwöhnt haben, ist es Zeit, auf den Bus zurück zu unserem Ausgangspunkt zu warten. Der Bus braucht 10 Minuten, um unsere Haltestelle zu erreichen, und nach einem kurzen Spaziergang zum Parkplatz kehren wir zum Van zurück.

Von hier aus machen wir uns auf den Weg zurück zum Abholort des Tages, Edinburgh
